DEFINITION OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHY (DR);
It is a noninflammatory retina disease characterized by progressive retinal vasculature dysfunction secondary to chronic hyperglycemia.
SYMPTOMS OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHY (DR)
The symptoms are related to visual impairment;
- In the early stage, it is asymptomatic.
- Gradual loss of vision occurs due to the involvement of the macula.
- Sudden visual loss occurs due to vitreous hemorrhages.
- Background diabetic retinopathy
- Pre-Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
- Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Advanced diabetic retinopathy
It is characterized by;
- Retinal neovascularization
- New vessels at the disc
- New vessels elsewhere
- neovascularization of the iris
- vitreous hammeroge
