DEFINITION
It is the separation of the sensory retina from the retinal pigment epithelium by Subretinal Fluid (SRF).
SYMPTOMS OF RETINAL DETACHMENT
- Flashing of light
- Floaters
- Fall of vision
- Field defects
SIGNS RETINAL DETACHMENT
- Confrontation test
- Relative afferent pupillary detect when total loss of vision.
- Intraocular pressure is about 5mm Hg
- Treatment is surgical.
- The goal of surgery is to seal off the communication between the vitreous cavity and subretinal fluid.
